Catalogue of a valuable assemblage of miscellaneous articles of ancient, mediaeval and modern art, formed by the late Walter Hawkins, Esq., F.S.A. of Kensington. Comprising curious items from Mexico, New Zealand, and other countries, valuable articles in gold & other metals, handsome cabinets: fine specimens of stuffed birds, reptiles and other objects in natural history; objects in terra cotta, comprising some magnificent and remarkable antique vases from Cumae; several specimens of the Rhyton, of different types; antique glass with irridescence; a fine helmet, an embossed shield, & other articles in bronze; a handsome table, inlaid with marble; and many other beautiful works of art. A third very valuable Gift was presented in October, 1851, by
Walter Hawkins, Esq., F.S.A., a Proprietor and Visitor of
this Institution, consisting of the very beautiful and interesting
work entitled A Monograph of the Trochilid.e, or Humming-
Birds published by Mr. John Gould, F.R.S. ; to which Mr. Haw-
kins subsequently added some other volumes. [London Library]
