Sir John Bennett (1814-1897) FRAS was an eminent clockmaker and watchmaker. He was born on 15th October 1814 at Greenwich as a son of the watchmaker John Bennett.
Bennett is recorded as working at 65 Cheapside in London from 1847 onwards until at least 1883. He was sheriff of London and Middlesex in 1872 and was knighted to become Sir John Bennett. He also followed a career as a politician in London.
Bennett died at St Leonards-on-Sea on 3rd July 1897
