Dr. J. C. Hubertz, of Copenhagen. This observer has also found that insanity in Denmark is more prevalent in the northern * herreds,' or divisions of the kingdom, than in the southern portions. All the facts which have hitherto fallen under the observation of your physician would appear to substantiate this conclusion, as far as idiotcy is involved in this county, but it does not appear to hold good in reference to the number of the insane in the two divisions of Derbyshire. Jens Rasmussen Hübertz (1794–1855)
Jens Rassmussen was the son of Raadmand and Kjøbmand Christian Lassen Hübertz and Hedevig Rasmussen
and was born in Aalborg 5. Sept. 1794.

He went to Realskole and was apprenticed in Handelslære in Aalborg, Denmark

After he qualified as a mechant he went to Norway (his father's birthplace) and found employment in Drammen.

But he had little interest in trade and went to Copenhagen and obtained a grant kongelig Understøttelse to study at Copenhagen university.
In 1819 he passed his Examen artium and in 1824 the medicinske Examen. qualifying as a student doctor

1925 Jens Rasmussen Hübertz worked as medicinsk Kandidat at Frederiks Hospital;
and in the winter of 1826-27 he was sent to deal with a dysentry epidemic, Epidemilæge, in Horns Herred Blodgangsepidemi.
This experience provided material for an article in «Bibl. f. Læger» and his doctorate, Doktordisputats, in 1828 at Kiel university

1827-32 he was in practice privat praktiserende Læge in Ærøskjøbing,
and then 1832-38 in Aarhus.
1838 he was appointed to the hospital and workhouse Læge ved Hospitalet og Fattigvæsenet in Aalborg.

1841-42 he made an officiall supported study tour abroad looking in particular at how the mentally ill, or mentally deficient or mad were hospitalised and gathered statistical, topographical and historical data. . Sindssygevæsenet

1844 resigned his postions in Aalborg and moved to Copenhagen Kjøbenhavn,
the psychiatric reform movement was in another's care but in 1852 he was awarded funds for another study tour
Idioters Oplæring og Udvikling helped by Understøttelse af Enkedronning Caroline Amalie og af den Reiersenske Fond

1854 he formed a private committee to look at the management and training of idiot children
Nov. 1855 he was made leader of Helbredelsesanstalten paa Gamle Bakkehus for idiotiske, svagsindede og epileptiske Børn
1. Dec.1855 he died suddenly of Apoplexi. He had never married.
