Charles Adolphe Morlot (Morlot, Adolph von)
1820–67
Swiss stratigrapher and archaeologist. Appointed professor of geology and mineralogy, Lausanne, in 1851. At one time, conservator of the Bern Archaeological Museum. Wrote on the Tertiary and Quaternary geology of Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark. Originator of the term "Quaternary".
By 1855, Mr. vows to the study of prehistory, travel in Northern Europe and publishes important work of synthesis. Curator of archaeological collections Berne (1865-1867). Tireless worker and enthusiastic researcher, Dr. was also interested in experimental psychology and ethnomusicology.
