=== Notes From Elsewhere ===
EDMUND LLOYD, Esq., M.R.C.S. Eng., late Assistant Medical Officer, County
Asylum, Wakefield ; Medical Department, General Post Office, St. Martin's-le-
Grand. [probably this one]
Or
[from the Lloyds of Thornbury, and the illustration and dates refer to this one]:
Edmund Lloyd was born on 15 April 1796...became a solicitor and the notice board displayed in the offices of 'Crossmans' at 12 The Plain, Thornbury suggests that he set up in business in the town in 1819. ...On 23rd May 1833 married ...had nine children ...died on 4th June 1855 aged 59
On June 9th 1855 the Bristol Mercury reported the death of Edmund Lloyd and explained how it occurred. Apparently while on business in Bristol he visited a dentist in Clifton for a filling and to have tartar removed from his teeth. After the treatment and having paid the dentist's bill, he collapsed and died. Dr Salmon of Thornbury had been treating Edmund Lloyd for heart disease for some years and the death was blamed on the heart disease rather than the size of the dentist's bill.

From: The Founding of Thornbury Workhouse

... Edmund Lloyd, a solicitor and partner of Thomas Crossman. It will perhaps not come as a tremendous surprise to learn that the wily Mr Lloyd was one of those opposed to the Coldstones scheme, and had seemingly bought up the land in order to foil it.
Mr Lloyd had won his battle (moral: don’t pick a fight with a solicitor) and the Guardians were forced to look elsewhere, eventually settling for a site at The Coombe on Gloucester Road, where the Union Workhouse (now Beechacres) still stands
