Ernest Bates designed the church [The Methodist Church - Grange-over-sands, Cumbria] in a Gothic style, and used sandstone dressing with snecked limestone for the walls with local slate for the roof. <br />Mr. Ernest Bates, of London and Manchester, is the architect [of The Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks’ Orphan Schools in 1855, moved to this site in 1869, and now known as Cheadle Hulme School.]
