Mason, Hon. Fellow.<br />death noted in the report of the council for 1908: Professor Otis Tufton Mason died in November. Born in 1838, he was educated at Columbia University, Washington, where he graduated in 1861. In 1874 began his long connection with the National Museum, of the Ethnological Department of which he was head curator at the time of his death. His published writings were many, his monograph on Aboriginal American Basketry being one of the most noteworthy. He was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute in 1886.
