William James Perry (1887–1949), usually known as W. J. Perry, was a leader in cultural anthropology at University College, London.<br />Megalith culture, according to him, was transmitted to the rest of the world from Egypt.<br />He was a convinced Hyperdiffusionist and collaborated with Grafton Elliot Smith. He was also interested in the history of religion. His daughter, a chemist, Margaret, married the eminent physiologist, Professor Robert Harkness.<br />[from Pocklington School] Another visitor, currently preparing a PhD on the subject of the Diffusionist Movement, was researching a former Master, William James Perry, who taught Mathematics between 1912 and 1919. It would appear from the school records that Perry introduced many of his later theories to the debating society of the time. Some of these were very advanced for the times. We have received material on Perry for<br />our Archives, and were able to provide not only photographs, but also much new material on a relatively unknown man.
