November 1929 in Kronberg im Taunus) was a German physician (with a focus on psychiatry), anthropologist, explorer, Americanist and author of important ethnological works, the particular itself to the exploration of the Indian cultures of Central Brazil has rendered outstanding services and the art of the Marquesan. He laid the permanent foundations for Brazilian ethnology. <br />
