Matthew John Anketell, late of 9, Ladbroke Square
?? Matthew John Anketell, J.P., D.L., (1812-70), Anketell Grove, County Monaghan, was elected a life member of the R.D.S. in 1848. His proposers were L. E. Foot and Dr John Lentaigne. He was a member of the protestant conservative society in 1832, high sheriff of County Monaghan in 1834, and a major in the Monaghan militia. He married, 6 February 1840, Selina, eldest daughter of David Ker, M.P., and granddaughter of the 1st marquess of Londonderry. Anketell was elected a member of the R.D.S. manufactures committee 1848-51. He gave two lectures during the winter of 1848-9 on the importance of establishing a manufacturing industrial base in Ireland. The R.D.S. listed his address as 1 Great Denmark Street, and Emyvale, County Monaghan.
