wrote on geology; also an accomplished botanist. Went with Joseph Hooker to Morocco and the Great Atlas; later made journey from Algiers to the Sahara. Results sent to Geological Society
George lived in Benthall Hall and was renowned for his knowledge about the crocus. He travelled all over the world and brought back samples. He used to write letters to Charles Darwin about his theories on evolution.
