In 1911 the occupier of St Clare was listed as:<br />East, Charles Harry, MD, MB<br />Medical practitioner Charles Harry Hanger East was a nephew of the Victorian landscape painter Sir Alfred Edward East (1844 - 1913) who in 1906 was elected president of the Royal Society of British Artists.<br />One of his roles seems to have been as medical officer for Lawnside Girls' School in Albert Road South. Madame Laura Robinet, who was a principal of the school in 1911, was the wife of French painter Paul Robinet. <br /><br />Charles Harry East, father of Charles Frederick Terence East; born 1861; educated at King's College London, 1880-1884; Medical Tutor and Registrar, House Surgeon, House Physician and Ophthalmology clinic assistant, King's College Hospital; Assistant Demonstrator of Anatomy, King's College London.<br />
