Notes From Elsewhere

Hi there, Im looking to find out more of a Charles Ratcliff and a Helen Jardine..
Charles, from what lil i know whas a Colonel and a Deputy Lieutenant of Warwickshire, he was born in 1815, Birmingham Warwickshire and married a Helen Jardine(daughter of Sir William Jardine) and he died in 1885 in Derbyshire, does anyone know more of him? what he was in the army? and when he was a deputy lieutanant(i hate typing that word lol )

oh he was also a JP (is that a judge? )

I discovered this forum by accident, and Colonel Charles Ratcliff is my great, great, great, great uncle. He was born 29 Dec 1815 at Edgbaston, B'ham, christened St Martins Church, B'ham. Died 28 Aug at Matlock Derbyshire, buried 4 Sept 1865 at Edgbaston Church. He was Colonel of the 4th Surrey Rifle Volunteers, also a barrister and JP ( a magistrate) for Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Salop(Shropshire). He married Helen Jardine on 30 April 1875, at Kensington Church, London. I don't know of any children.
I hope this is useful.
