Medical practitioner Charles Harry Hanger East was a nephew of the Victorian landscape painter Sir Alfred Edward East (1844 - 1913) who in 1906 was elected president of the Royal Society of British Artists.
One of his roles seems to have been as medical officer for Lawnside Girls' School in Albert Road South. Madame Laura Robinet, who was a principal of the school in 1911, was the wife of French painter Paul Robinet.
