Consul at Sarawak, Borneo, 1864; Manila, Philippine Islands, 1866; Tiflis (Tbilisi), Georgia, 1876; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1878; Tunis, Tunisia, 1888. Retired from the foreign service, 1889.
