1822-1899. Camille Dareste de Chavanne is a professor of zoology at the Faculty of Lille from 1860, the successor of Henri de Lacaze-Duthiers to the chair of natural sciences. He was then director of a laboratory at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris.
