LONGMAN, Charles James was born April 14, 1852. 2nd son of late William Longman, 36 Hyde Park Square, W., and 39 Paternoster Row, E.C.
Education: Harrow; University College Oxford
Career: President Publishers’ Associate 1896, 1897,1902, and 1903. Justice of the Peace; member of Longmans, Green, and Company, publishers, since 1877; editor of Longman’s Magazine, 1882-1905
Interests: Archery (Champion of England, 1883); Association Football (Oxford Eleven, 1872-1873).
Spouse 1880 Harriet

President of the Publishers’ Association. Oxford football blue and archery champion of England. Many of the items associated with him in the Pitt Rivers Museum have to do with archery. He co-authored the book on the subject for the Badminton Series. JP. His wife, Harriet Ann, was the daughter of Sir John Evans
