Schetelig Carl Friedrich Arnold, physician, anthropologist and archaeologist

Born in 06/05/1835 at the Heide (Holstein) Gotingen and studied medicine in Kiel where he graduated in 1856, He then moved to Hong Kong where he practiced medicine for many years as a physician in the colony stranger here, and became president of the German Club and librarian (1867).
Returning home he resumed his medical studies as an assistant professor of the famous Von Essmarch in Kiel. So more and more animated by the desire to perfect himself in his profession, he studied in Paris and then in London at the famous English surgeon Sir Spencer Wells. Yet studied in Paris and then London, settling first in Hamburg in 1868 and then in Bad Homburg.
Franco-Prussian War found him in 1870 in Hamburg, where the Senate gave him the direction of the ambulance of the Red Cross. But even these experiences so bitter they could mitigate in him a love of new interests. Already in 1863 he had, in the Philippines, began archaeological and anthropological studies. On the morning of February 17, 1900 Dr. Artnold Schetelig lying on her bed death surrounded by flowers that he loved so much; lying face composed, serene. The mystery of death was unable to move him, because he was accustomed to control events, not to be dominated. Indeed Schetelig Arnold had nothing to fear from death.
