1863 Mayor of Faversham

Frederick William Monk joined him [his father] in business [property developer], became an important public figure, and was mayor while in his early thirties. Then in 1867, in archetypal Dickensian fashion, their empire, which now extended to a City printing business, began to collapse, and two years later Frederick was declared
bankrupt. The family, now using the surname Osborne, then moved to Montreal for a while before settling in Boston, Massachusetts.
