Birthdate: September 28, 1859 (71) Death: October 20, 1930 (71) Immediate Family:
Son of Gilbert James Blane and Harriett Ann Stewart Blane
Brother of William George Blane; Harriett Blane; Captain
Bachelor. Had enlisted as a lieutenant in the Royal Horse Artillery in 1878, working his way through the ranks until he was made Lieutenant Colonel in 1903. He retired in 1908 but was recalled for service in the Great War, serving in France and Flanders until 1917 when he was wounded. He was twice mentioned in despatches. [from article on his former home Woodland House originally designed by Richard Norman Shaw for the renowned artist Sir Luke Fildes. Fildes died in 1927, and Blane moved in to 11 Melbury Road (as it was known then)]
