Cancellier in the consulate at Monastir (now Bitola, former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia), then acting consul, 1859–60. Acting consul-general, Belgrade, 1863. Consul at Sarawak, Borneo, 1864; Manila, Philippine Islands, 1866; Tiflis (Tbilisi), Georgia, 1876; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1878; Tunis, Tunisia, 1888. Retired from the foreign service, 1889.
