House Notes
1901. 11.26 Mr E. Fallaize BA (Exeter College Oxford) Brentor. Fortis Green N. was thereupon appointed Assistant Secretary to the Institute for a period of six months in the first instance; subject to three months notice on either side, at a salary of £70 per annum. The duties of the office to be the same as at the time of the appointment of the present Assistant Secretary.
1901.12.10 it was resolved to confirm the appointment of Mr Fallaize as Assistant Secretary, to date as from Dec. 16th 1901.
1902.03.11 Re-appointment of the Assistant Secretary. Mr E.N. Fallaize was re-appointed as Assistant Secretary on the same terms as before, at a salary of £75 per annum, subject to three months notice on either side.
1903. 02.10 Resignation of the Assistant Secretary. It was resolved, on the motion of the Hon. Secretary, seconded by Dr Garson, to accept the resignation of the Assistant Secretary: the resignation to take effect at the earliest convenient date after the appointment of a successor. On the motion of Dr Haddon, seconded by the Treasurer, and carried unanimously, it was resolved ‘that the Council formally express its cordial appreciation of the services of Mr Fallaize, and of the activity and interest which he has shown in its service.’
1903.03.15 [proposed for election]
1903.05.19 Mr Gowland moved and Dr Garson seconded that ‘Mr E.N. Fallaize be coopted to fill the vacancy on the Council caused by Mr Joyce’s acceptance of the Secretaryship’. This was carried unanimously
1930.10.28 The President read a letter from the Hon. Secretary resigning his office. On the motion of the President seconded by Miss Durham it was resolved that the following minute be sent to Mr Fallaize: The Council of the Royal Anthropological Institute in accepting the resignation of Mr E.N. Fallaize from the post of Hon. Secretary desires to place on record its great appreciation of his services to the Institute and to the science of anthropology. Mr Fallaize, not only acted as Assistant Secretary from 1901-1903, and as Recorder of the Anthropological Section of the British Association from 1902 almost without intermission to 1928, but since the beginning of 1920 as Hon. Secretary, has devoted much of his time and energy to furthering the well-being of the Institute. During these ten critical years the Institute has obtained new and greatly improved premises, the Library has been reorganised and catalogued, while Man, which he has edited during the greater part of this time, has been so much improved that for several years it has so far paid its way as to permit the frequent production of double numbers. These advances in the welfare of the Institute are in a large measure due to his unremitting energies.
1931.04.28 It was resolved that notwithstanding the arrears of his subscription, Mr Fallaize’s membership should be continued till the end of the year 1931 on condition that all books and papers belonging to the Institute or referring to its affairs be separated without further delay from the other contents of the packages belonging to him now on the Institute’s premises
1932. 01.26 The names of the following Fellows to be removed from the list of Fellows: Messrs N.F. Hall, W.J. Lewis Abbott, Arthur Michael Forde, Dr Heinrich Krause, D.S. Reddi, Nathaniel F. Robarts, Leslie F. Taylor, E.N. Fallaize, Capt. D.A.G. Dallas, Mr M.H. Krishniengar, Dr J.W. Tomb.
A18/10/72 KMM to ENF, 20 Mar. 1936 - has been asked by RWF to ask him to remove his property from the Institute’s premises (tpc.); see Council minutes, 28 Oct. 1930, f. 149
