BUT MAYBE THIS ARCHITECT? David Mackintosh was a native of Greenock but had moved to Exeter by the 1840s. He had a large practice there and was a member of the Diocesan Architectural Society and architect of a number of churches. Only occasionally did he return to practice in Greenock though he is not traceable in Greenock Post Office directories suggesting he never set up an office there even on a temporary basis. He also worked in London
